About the Braidwood Show Society
With the first Braidwood Show Committee being formed in August 1874, our country show forms an integral part of the Braidwood community.
The first show society president, Mr Thomas Steward, and the first secretary, Mr R. Craig, oversaw the region's first ever show in March 1876.
For many years the show was held at the racecourse.
The present Show Ground was acquired in 1883, which was part of the old church and school estate.
In 1907 the Show Society committee purchased 21 acres, it was is referred to as the back paddock in those times and currently still is, in 1910 the sheep pavilion which is still in use today was erected.
The Pavilion was a small construction that was erected in 1925; improvements have taken place in the intervening time to meet current standards.
Braidwood Show is one of the oldest continuous shows in New South Wales. We have only missed a few shows once in the war years and in more recent years due to fires, flood, COVID and upgrades and new lights in the arena.
This fantastic achievement is credited to the committees, volunteers, sponsors and most importantly the Braidwood Community.
The Annual Show showcases our district and beyond, exhibiting the talent and diversity of our community. Each year we continue to see the very best agricultural exhibits and community displays on offer.
We look forward to continuing this fabulous relationship.
